Begin Your 2020 Off with Healthy Teeth
It’s not just the beginning of a new year. It’s the beginning of a new decade. As we get nestled into the futuristic year of 2020, it’s time to start thinking about the future of your oral health.
The most important ways to keep your oral health in pristine condition is through daily maintenance. This includes brushing twice per day and flossing every day. Rinsing with antiseptic mouthwash on a daily basis is a good idea too.
But what else needs to be done to ensure your teeth and mouth are healthy well into your future? Here are some dental procedures we recommend and why:
Dental Cleanings: Our dentists recommend that you come in every six months for a dental cleaning. A dental cleaning includes a thorough cleaning and examination of your teeth and mouth. Our dental hygienists and dentists are able to eliminate hard-to-remove plaque build-up, check for cavities, and check the health of your gums. We will inform you of any oral issue we may find and then discuss the next step needed to address it.
Dental X-Rays: Sometimes there are oral problems that aren’t visible to the naked eye, which is why dental X-rays are vital to keeping your teeth healthy. At our Tippit Dental offices, we use digital dental X-rays. These lower radiation exposure by up to 90 percent and it also allows us to instantly see the interior of your teeth. At our dental offices, we are always concerned about the current and future health of our patients, which is why we invest in modern and the most effective dental technology.
Dental Fillings: Quite often, if you do have cavities, you can see them by opening your mouth in the mirror and surveying your teeth. But there are times when a cavity is not visible by simple mirror observation. The cavity may be on the back side of the teeth, in between teeth, or on a molar in the back of the mouth. This is why bi-annual dental cleanings are so important, and digital dental X-rays are so efficient. In the event there are cavities, it may be necessary to address those issues with dental fillings. Dental fillings are used to stop the spread of the cavity. Stopping a cavity before it spreads helps keep patients from having to receive more extensive dental work, like a root canal, dental crown, or even a dental implant.
